What can be expected?

The school leaver is educated so that he or she can:

  • make machine and equipment parts as well as machinery and building structure components manually or using machines;
  • be skilled in installation, maintenance and repair of machine parts, machinery and equipment used in a variety of industrial branches, civil engineering, agriculture and transport;
  • read technical drawings and renovate simple machine parts (shafts, bearings, gear wheels, journals, …) based on the drawings;
  • possess the basic manual metal processing skills (e.g. measuring, marking-off, filing, material cutting, straightening and bending, drilling, thread cutting, grinding);
  • get authorization for inert-gas shielded electric arc welding, stick electrode electric arc welding and gas welding;
  • understand the occupational health and safety regulations, fire safety regulations and environmental protection principles.

Opportunities for the school leaver

  • The student successfully passing the final examination is qualified to work as a machine fitter, assembling fitter, rotating machine fitter, workshop fitter, printing machine fitter, rail vehicle fitter, steam fitter, steel erector, pipe fitter, piper, boiler smith, gas pipeline fitter, rail structure fitter, building ironmonger, electrical equipment workshop fitter, rendering plant mechanic, mechanic/repairman for services, inspector, draughtsman. etc.
  • In case the school leaver goes through special course, passes examination and gets a certificate he or she is qualified also to perform other professions such as a welder, slinger, crane operator, power truck driver or road motor vehicle driver.
  • After getting the required experience he or she can operate as a sole trader.
  • Depending on the study results achieved he or she can continue studies in follow-up courses (e.g. focused on business) in order to pass the “maturita” examination (similar to GCE examination).
