What can be expected?

The school leaver is trained so that he or she can:

  • be skilled in crude iron and steel production from the raw material charging up to the produced steel;
  • prepare the charge and admixtures, charge the furnace, tap (both the metal and slag) and cast, prepare casting sets and ladles and repair the tapping spouts;
  • operate and perform regular maintenance of metallurgical equipment;
  • check product quality and sorting;
  • carry out regular maintenance of equipment and components efficiently cooperating with the relevant operators.

Opportunities for the school leaver

  • The student successfully passing the final examination is qualified for professions such as a steel metallurgist, blast furnace metallurgist, furnace operator, rolling mill operator, wire drawing mill operator or ropemaker.
  • Depending on the study results achieved he or she can continue studies in follow-up courses (e.g. focused on business) in order to pass the “maturita” examination (similar to GCE examination).
